Miss USA 2011 | Miss America | Alyssa Campanella Crowned Miss America 2011 - Alyssa Campanella beat out 49 other Miss USA 2011 contestants to win the Miss USA pageant. Campanella came into the pageant as Miss California 2011, and managed to edge out Miss Tennessee Ashley Durham, who happens to be her best friend, for the right to be crowned Miss USA 2011.

Former Miss America 2010 Rima Fakih was in attendance to relinquish the crown to Alyssa, who will now do the honors of representing the United States in the Miss Universe pageant to be held in Brazil in September of this year. As you might remember, Rima was the topic of much controversy after it was discovered that she was a pole dancing stripper. Fakih spent her year appearing in WWE shows including flagship show ‘Raw’ and the reality show ‘Tough Enough’. What Alyssa will do with her prominent position remains to be seen.

Campanella was born and brought up in NJ and considers herself a history enthusiast. The 2011 Miss USA’s question during the Q&A centered around marijuana and her political answer managed to keep all judges content. Speaking of the judges, it was a diverse group of celebrities including Tyson Chandler, Rocco DiSpirito, Mariel Hemingway, Penn Jillette, Lil Jon, Caroline Manzo, Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Zuleyka Rivera, and Marcus Allen
